
FAIRBORN – The Preble Shawnee Arrows dropped a 65-59 triple overtime OHSAA DV regional tournament game to Cincinnati Clark Montessori Cougars in Tuesday night action played at Fairborn High School.
“Super proud of the run we had, especially after the season,” said Preble Shawnee first year head coach Ryan Robinson. “I’m so proud of this group for pulling together, sticking together.”

The Cougars came out dressed in their home uniforms and grabbed an early 11-5 lead after one period of play.
Preble Shawnee battled back with a 9-0 run to open second quarter play to lead 14-11 at the second-period 5:10 mark. The Arrows went on to outscore the Cincinnati team 15-10 in the second, sending the teams to the break with Clark Montessori holding a slim one-point 21-20 advantage.

The Arrows scored 13 third-quarter points while holding the Cougars to 8 points, giving Preble Shawnee a 33-29 lead with one quarter to play.
Preble Shawnee earned a six-point lead, 42-36, at 3:24 in the fourth, only to have Clark Montessori use a 9-3 run to close out regulation, sending the game to its first overtime period.

The Arrows held a 48-45 first overtime advantage with 0:48 showing before the Cougars knotted the score at 49-49 with the teams headed to a second overtime period.
Preble Shawnee opened the second four-minute overtime with a 53-49 lead at 2:23. Clark Montessori answered with four points to even the score at 53-53 with each team closing out the sixth with two points, sending the game to a third overtime period tied at 55-55.
The Arrows opened the third overtime with a 57-55 lead, with the Cougars taking advantage of a 10-2 run to close out the game and advance in tournament play with a six-point win.

“You have to give them credit for picking up the pressure and forcing us into turnovers late,” Robinson noted. “It was a physical game, it was a battle. and it’s a tough job for the refs in that environment so we have to push through and keep working and get better
Four seniors played their final game for the Arrows basketball program. No. 2 Brayden Robinette, No. 4 Isaac Blankenship, No. 15 Reece Smith, and No. 22 Lane Lovely.
“Love all those guys to death and not just me but our staff, our team, our community,” said Coach Robinson. “Preble Shawnee legends in each of their respective sports, especially basketball, but football as well, and they will be greatly missed. Very thankful to coach those guys in their last year, and we’ll be here for them forever.”

Preble Shawnee finishes the 2024-2025 season with a 16-9 record.
“Love this team, and we’ll never forget it,” Coach Robinson concluded, “and we’ll be ready for next year.”
