PITSBURG – Christoph Keller, a dedicated and beloved member of the Pitsburg Lions Club, was posthumously honored with the club’s Lion of the Year award during a special dinner held in recognition of his service. Keller, who passed away on January 5, 2026, left behind a legacy defined by humility, reliability, and unwavering commitment to his community.
Keller’s family was invited and attended as honored guests as club members reflected on the quiet yet powerful impact Christoph made.
During the evening, club president Brett Tillman described Keller as “a person who always showed up,” noting that his steady presence and willingness to volunteer at every event set a high standard for service. Tillman encouraged those in attendance to “try to be more like Christoph,” a sentiment that echoed throughout the night.
Several members shared personal stories of Christoph’s generosity. One member recalled how Keller spent time helping his son earn his CDL license—patiently teaching him how to drive a semi and donating his time simply because someone needed help. Another story highlighted Keller’s role in preserving a Pitsburg historic railroad-era sign that has been preserved and now hangs in the Arcanum Historic Society, a piece of community heritage that may have otherwise been lost.
Perhaps the most touching moment came when his wife, Tonya Keller, addressed the club. She shared how deeply meaningful it was to Christoph to be part of the Lions—that he believed wholeheartedly in the projects, the mission, and the service they provide to their community. Tonya expressed the family’s gratitude for the support they received during Christoph’s traumatic experience at the hospital, sharing that the love, presence, and help from the Lions strengthened them during their most difficult days.
Members of the Pitsburg Lions Club emphasized that Keller embodied what it truly means to be a Lion: dependable, selfless, and guided by service above self. His absence will be felt deeply, not only within the club but throughout the community he quietly served.
As the evening concluded, the message was clear: though Christoph Keller was a quiet man, his impact on Pitsburg will be felt for generations. His example of humility, dedication, and heart continues to inspire.
