Piqua launches 2025 Veteran Banner Program

152

PIQUA – The City of Piqua is again offering its Veteran Banner program to recognize service members of Piqua who are currently serving or hold veteran status from a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Banners will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day on light poles along East Ash Street, from Spring Street to the CSX railroad overpass bridge. Following Veterans Day, the banners will be removed and made available for pick up by the applicant. Staff will notify applicants when banners are available for pick up.

Eligible applicants are service members or individuals applying on behalf of service members who are on active duty or Veterans with verification of military status (e.g. DD Form 214) and are current or former residents within the City of Piqua with proof of residency (e.g. copy of a utility bill or a driver’s license). Those applying on behalf of deceased veterans can provide an obituary as proof of residency.

The program will feature the individual’s military photo, name, and years of service on a 48-inch by 18-inch banner. The cost to participate is $100 for a new banner, which includes two-sided design, printing, installation, and removal. Banners can be displayed for up to three years at a discounted rate of $40 for years 2 and 3, as long as the banners remain in good condition.

Space is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis to 75 applicants. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2024.

Completed applications, along with a photo and payment, should be submitted to the Community Services Department on the second floor of the Municipal Government Complex, 201 W. Water St., Piqua.
