PIQUA – City crews are working this morning to remove debris from the roadway, alley and sidewalks following a fire at 113-115 E. High St. Tuesday night.

High Street from North Main Street to Spring Street as well as the southeast parking quad will remain closed until the cleanup is complete and the area has been approved for reopening by the Piqua Fire Department.

Fire crews responded to the commercial structure fire call at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and remained on the scene until 5:30 a.m. today. No occupants were onsite at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries to crews or residents.

Fire Chief Lee Adams said the team’s focus was on preventing the fire from extending into 101 or 107 E. High St., which share a wall with the building on fire. The buildings at 113 and 115 E. High St. sustained major damage, and 101 and 107 E. High St. sustained minor to moderate damage from water and smoke.

The Piqua Fire Department appreciates mutual aid provided by Covington Fire & Rescue, Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department, Lockington Volunteer Fire Department, Sidney Fire & Emergency Services and Troy Fire Department. Piqua Power Supply, the Public Works Department and CenterPoint Energy supported the safety efforts.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be investigated along with the building owner’s insurance company.
