GREENVILLE – Ella Oswalt delivered a dominant performance in the circle Saturday, striking out 10 and going the distance to lead Greenville LWSB Green Wave to an 11-2 victory over the Covington Lady Buccaneers.
Oswalt scattered four hits and allowed two runs over seven innings while issuing no walks in a complete-game effort.
“Great day for Lady Wave Softball,” said Greenville coach Jerrod Newland. “Great job on the mound for Ella – came out firing 10 k’s and a low pitch count today.”

The Covington Lady BUCCS entered the game with a perfect 5-0 early-season record before falling to the Lady Wave.
Covington struck first at the top of the opening inning, using a triple down the right field line from Emalyn Johnson and a groundout by Whitney Burns to take a 2-0 lead.
Greenville quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning, erupting for five runs on six hits to seize control. Leah Force sparked the rally with a leadoff single, followed by base hits from Oswalt and Lizzie Shaffer. Kendall Cromwell delivered a two-run single to center to give the Lady Wave the lead.

Kara Blumenstock added an RBI on a fielder’s choice, Lily Brubaker singled, and Rylie Pfledderer capped the inning with a two-run double to center, giving Greenville a 5-2 advantage after one inning.
The Lady Wave continued to build their lead in the second, taking advantage of an error and a Rielynn Davidson single to push the margin further.
Greenville added two more runs in the third inning, capitalizing on another Covington error and an RBI single from Shaffer to extend the lead.

Burns took the loss for Covington, allowing 10 runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four innings while striking out two and walking three.
At the plate, Greenville pounded out 12 hits, led by Oswalt’s 3-for-4 day that included a double. Pfledderer, Cromwell, and Davidson each drove in two runs, while Shaffer and Force added two hits apiece.
“Hit some balls very hard and solid today,” Newland said. Three to four kids are starting to have it slow down for them.”

Defensively, the Lady Wave were sharp, playing error-free softball in the win.
