Hopefully, one of my health issues has been taken care of with surgery.
Yes, I’m sporting a patch of stitches atop my skull.
I still experience some pain and headaches, but it goes away and then returns.
I was afraid to have another surgery, but I was assured I could at least get that spot, which they called a lesion, off and they did. The surgery took place this past Thursday at Wayne HealthCare.
It wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be during the procedure, since after I was sedated for five minutes, I would be awake for the whole thing. The medical personnel involved explained things to me beforehand. That was nice of them to let me know what to expect.
Afterwards, though, there is pain, but I was given two medications to take when that happens. So far, it’s tolerable, but I would like it to end to get myself healed quicker.
Now, I wait. I am going to my family doctor this week for a regular checkup and will be getting my stitches out in two to three weeks. I can’t wait.
I felt safe with the people I had to deal with during this procedure and, of course, prayers always help.
I just have to go easy on myself. One thing they advised is not to lift 15 pounds in the next three weeks.
I just pray that the surgery was an easy fix and won’t cause me any more problems.
I am learning how to take a shower and wash my hair and try to do it without getting those stitches wet, fresh out of the sprayer.. My niece, Michelle, is quite helpful by looking up solutions on the internet.
The “turban”– that’s what the surgeon called it–was put on me by her after the surgery. It was composed of a lot of gauze and it was ready to be removed the next morning.
The surgery took place the same night as the Ansonia Fire Department chili supper and Halloween parade, the latter of which was canceled because of the rain. But, I am sure if I even wanted to go uptown that night looking like I did, I could have won a prize if I was placed in the monster category. And, I’m too old for that.
My recent experience did help me to keep my mind off of the pain in my legs and feet, but I’m sure as I get my head better, the other pain will be there to “entertain” me.
Then, I will keep on keeping on until I get more prayers answered.
My niece, Michelle Jones, and my son, Jamie, are helping me by looking out for me. I don’t think I’m a big bother, but we’ll see. I don’t mean to be. I just want to get well and take my life back..
And, I don’t want to give up on myself, so I will try to keep myself busy doing what I can still do,
