New Weston Street Contract Awarded

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ May 21, 2026, regular meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from May 19.

The Examination and Allowance of bills dated May 21st were presented. The General Fund amount was $67,340.62, and the Outside General Funds were $403,716.70, for a total of $471,057.32. They were approved.

The Sheriff’s Department and EMA had appropriation transfers. The Sheriff transferred $600.00 for inmate pick-up in Niagara County, New York, and EMA transferred $450.00 to cover reimbursement expenses.

A Notice of award, and then a Notice to proceed, were given to Wagner Paving, Inc. for the 2024 CBDG New Weston Street Improvement Project. The award amounts to $86,725.50.  The notice to proceed begins on May 21st, and the completion date was set at July 31st, 2026.

An Application to the ODOT office of Aviation for Funds through the Ohio Airport Grant Program will be submitted by the Commissioners. This is for a 300-foot extension to the current apron for $781,300.00. The Commissioners’ matching funds will be $78,300.00 (10%).

The Weaver Bros, Inc., Dew Fresh Farms has sent a local notification to increase the manure design capacity and processing of an existing concentrated animal feeding facility by 10% set forth in the current design capacity. The upgrade will be on the Christian Road Facility in Versailles.

The Sheriff’s Department had three expense requests. The first for Wesley Osborne and Emma Henderson to attend the Clark State Corrections Academy, June 1st- 26th, the estimated total is $4,200.00. The second request for $1,680.00 was so that Shawn Trissel, Stephen Cox, Adam Crumley, and Kelly Moody could attend the Ohio Tactical Officers Association conference, June 7th-12th, 2026. The final request for $635.00 was for Tactical Team Leader training at the Miami County Training center for Stephen Cox, Oct. 26th -28th, 2026. All were approved.

As a Public Notice, all County Offices will be closed on May 25th for Memorial Day.
