GREENVILLE—The position of Director of Darke County Chamber of Commerce came to Rachel Neal how all great ideas get to people, through her mom.

Neal, previously the store manager at Happily Ever Co. in Downtown Greenville, is used to receiving job notices from her mom.

“I had a great job,” she said. “My mom, who for probably my whole exsistense, has been sending me job links. It’s always just been from the angle of, ‘Did you even know this job existed?’ She’s been doing that for as long as I can remember. One day in January, she sent me a link for the job posting for the chamber. Something just clicked.”

Her previous position was definitely a precursor to her new position as Director of Darke County Chamber of Commerce.

As store manager, Neal would often help Hall host events and connect her ideas to reality.

“I love people, meeting new people, helping new people,” she said. “One thing I always joked was that Sarah would have all these dreams. My favorite part of that was being able to put them into action. So, I’m hoping that I can help businesses, if they have a question, or they need a resource, to be able to help them follow their own dreams.”

Neal has a few plans for her time with The Darke County Chamber of Commerce.

“Once I’m familiar with all our meetings and events, then I would like to focus on building up our social media,” she said. “I would like to build our online presence for sure. I’m not techy, so trying to quickly get the word out there. Currently, because I’m so new, I’m trying to get all the meeting stuff down, but also the Facebook Stuff and the social media stuff.”

Neal added that in this new role, she really hopes to help business owners and community members live their dream, whatever that may be.

She also would like to highlight members on socials as well.

With those plans in mind, it feels good to have the support from the community, she said.

“Knowing that I’m in the right spot, making those connections, and helping build awareness of what we’re doing,” Neal said.

Neal previously lived in Fairfield and Hamilton. She’s happy to be back in the community now that she’s started her family.

“It’s really great to be back,” she said. “I know so many people. I grew up here. It’s very important for my kids to have roots, and for them to know they have a foundation in this town.”

The Darke County Chamber of Commerce has a few fun events coming up this summer.

The Commerce will host their annual meeting some time in June, as well as their monthly Afterhours networking events, and the Darke County Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing in August.

The Darke County Chamber of Commerce is located at 130 Martz St Suite 5, Greenville, OH 45331. For more information on Neal or the Chamber, go to their website, or Facebook Page.
