PREBLE COUNTY – The Nature Center at Hueston Woods State Park released its February/March calendar of events, including programs at the center and the annual Maple Syrup Festival.
“The park’s Nature Center is located near the park office. Open daily from 10 am-4:30 pm year-round, its interactive displays include the park’s history, geology, and Ohio’s native plants and animals.” According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website.
“The Nature Center is also home to a variety of live animals including fish, reptiles, birds of prey, and mammals. All the animals at the nature center are native Ohio species that are kept at the nature center only because they are unable to survive on their own in the wild.
Naturalists offer year-round public programming on a variety of topics.”
The Maple Syrup Festival is held on two weekends, March 4-5 and March 11-12. Information from the event’s Facebook page includes:
“Spend the day at Hueston Woods State Park!
Let a hayride take you from the Beach to the top of the trail. A guide will hike with you through the “Big Woods”, a designated State Nature Preserve. You will learn the art of maple syrup production through its cultural and historical importance. Food, drinks, and maple syrup will be sold throughout the day.”
