GREENVILLE – Darke County Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs and Aaron Flatter recognized Darke County FFA members with a National FFA Week Proclamation reading:
WHEREAS, National FFA Week is a time for local chapters to highlight their programs and showcase their success and passion for agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the FFA and agricultural education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and the future of food, fiber, and natural resource systems; and
WHEREAS, agricultural education and FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing needs in the science, business, and technology of agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the FFA motto – “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve” – gives direction and purpose to those students who take an active role in succeeding in agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth, career success, citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation; and
WE THEREFORE PROCLAIM the week of February 15-22, 2025, AS NATIONAL FFA WEEK.
“It’s always great to have our FFA students come in and celebrate the beginning of FFA week as FFA teaches leadership skills, responsibility, and citizenship on how to be a good person in our community,” said Commissioner Aultman. “It also gives them opportunities to figure out job potential and training along with it.”
“We think of the many advisors in the county for what they do to help these kids put in numerous hours above and beyond the normal call of the normal teacher on evenings, weekends, and days that they are normally off for holidays,” Aultman added. “We congratulate all the FFA programs in Darke County and wish them the very best as they celebrate National FFA Week.”
Darke County FFA members attending the proclamation presentation included Angela Graf, Ansonia; Carrie Denlinger, Arcanum; Katelynne Michael, Arcanum; Victor Garber, Franklin Monroe; Bo Melton and Marissa Hicks, Greenville; Aldon Edger, Missassinawa Valley; and Colin Batten, Versailles.
Versailles 2024-2025 FFA President Colin Batten said of the proclamation, “It really means a lot. First of all, it’s helpful to get the word out there about what FFA is and what FFA members do. It draws attention to all of our FFA activities that are going on throughout the week, for example at Versailles both in our school and our community with different activities and at the end of the week altogether for the omelet breakfast. People of all walks of life in the county see the importance of agriculture and how we are able to exemplify it locally.”
