UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley football program, under the direction of first-year head coach Brandon Williams, hosted the school’s Blackhawks Football Youth Camp.
Williams, a Mississinawa Valley alum from the class of 2005, played football and baseball for the Blackhawks and is pleased to return to his alma mater to coach football.
“I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else,” Williams stated. “This is the only place I would want to coach.”
Coach Williams and his staff taught the basic fundamentals of the game, with the primary goal for the campers to have fun and enjoy the game.
“We introduce them to football,” said Williams. “For a lot of them, this is the first time coming out on a football field, so just basic fundamentals; stance and basic tackling form. They took some nice fundamentals home with them.”
The Blackhawks have assembled an all-new staff, except for one returnee, for the 2025 OHSAA football season.
“I appreciate my coaching staff,” Coach Williams said. “Every single one of them has been fantastic.”
“Our goal is to go out and get better every day, every practice, every down and distance,” Williams added.
Coach Williams was quick to give thanks to all who helped with the camp, including the parents for bringing their sons to the event.
“Our high school players were a big help with the camp,” Williams noted. “From the top of the administration all the way to the bottom, it has been great support, and I am glad they are behind us.”
The camp concluded with a Punt, Pass, and Kick competition won by MV sixth grader Wesley Wagaman.
