UNION CITY—The Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC FFA Chapter participated in the Ohio Spring Skills competition.

It was held in Columbus, Ohio on March 25, 2023. The Equine Team placed 29th in the state overall, Matalin Meyer, Paytyn Hiestand, JossLynne Thornhill, and Krista Miller participated. They were coached by Kelsie Miller. Beforehand participants had to take an online test over general knowledge and tack identification then in person they placed four classes of horses with questions and one class of hay. The members who competed on the General Livestock Team were Ben Hartzell, Bryce Watson, Harley Hanes, Stephany De La Torre Barron, and Emily Byram. They placed 86th in the state and were coached by Joe Hartzell.

For the competition they also took an online test over general knowledge and placed classes of pigs, sheep, cattle, heifers, and goats in person with questions. All the teams spent the weeks leading up to the competition studying and preparing. Good job to all teams and thank you coaches!
