Miami University baseball team hosting annual Joe Nuxhall Classic

Area softball and baseball fans wanting to take in some local college action should check out two special events coming to Miami University. 

Joe Nuxhall Classic 

Miami University baseball will host day one of the Joe Nuxhall Classic, on Tuesday, April 4. The four-team showcase will include the University of Cincinnati (11-17), Xavier University (15-12) and Wright State University (15-11).

Wright State and UC will kick off the event at 2 p.m. at Miami’s McKie Field. Miami will take on Xavier at 6 p.m. 

The winner of these games will play on Tuesday, April 11, at the UC Baseball Stadium, 7 p.m. The other two teams will play earlier in the day, TBA.

Redhawks’ junior right-hander Zach Maxey got the start in the first of two games set for Sunday, April 2, against Western Michigan.

Miami softball invitational 

Softball fans are reminded Miami will host the Miami Invitational on April 14-16. Teams include Louisville, Oakland and Oklahoma. This tournament provided area softball fans a chance to see Oklahoma, the #1 NCAA team in the country. 

Schedule: 

Friday, April 14 – Miami vs Louisville, TBA 

Saturday, April 15 – Oakland vs Miami, 11 a.m.; Oklahoma vs Louisville, 5 p.m. 

Sunday, April 16 – Miami vs Oklahoma, 10 a.m.
