Marlene Faye (Rhoades) Long, 83 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at The Brethren Retirement Community on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 4:57 AM. Marlene was born February 5, 1941 in Greenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hershel and Mildred (Rismiller) Rhoades.
Marlene retired from years of teaching at Versailles and Ansonia Schools. After retiring, she was a substitute teacher for many schools in the county. Marlene was involved in the Retired Teachers Association for many years, as well as part of the Auxiliary in North Star. She was also active in Greenville’s BPW, and a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents; her Husband, John (Charles) Victor Long, Her Fiancé, Charles “Butch” George and her Brother in Law, David Clarence Fritz.
Marlene leaves behind her loving siblings, Larry (Sue) Rhoades, Barbara Fritz, and Cheryl (Thomas) Wagner. As well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The care of Marlene has been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. By the wishes of Marlene, a graveside service will be held privately for her family, to be scheduled for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren Retirement Community and Greenville Hospice on behalf of Marlene. The family would like to thank the Brethren Retirement Community and EverHeart Hospice for the care they gave Marlene.
