Madison and Chloe Alexander are sisters in the Canine Capers 4-H club and show Minature Schnauzers.

This is Madison’s first year showing in 4-H. She is going into eighth grade at Versailles. Her dog’s name is Callie.

Madison and Callie earned  First in Rally, second in Showmanship, and third in Obedience.

Madison gave advice to those who have never shown before.

“Keep the dog’s attention,” Madison said. “Make sure you know the commands and are willing to do it on like grass and different areas.”

She said the most challenging part of showing dogs is getting them to learn to do the tricks without receiving treats.

Madison’s favorite part of the fair is the food. She loves the elephant ears and will get them from wherever she can.

This is Chloe’s second year showing in 4-H. She is going into fifth grade at Versailles. Her dog’s name is Helga.

Chloe and Helga earned first in Showmanship and Fifth in Obedience.

Chloe also gave advice to those who have not shown before.

“Motivate your dog, don’t give up,” Chloe said. “The dog may not cooperate, but you have to keep going.”

She says the most challenging part of showing is getting them to heel.

Showing is Chloe’s favorite part of the fair; her favorite show is Showmanship.

Congratulations to both Madison and Chloe! We wish you the best of luck with your shows!
