This is 10-year-old Lucy Schweiterman’s first year showing her sheep. She has Hampshire Sheep and Suffolk Sheep.
“I like showing it and working with it,” Lucy said.
Lucy attends Arcanum Schools and is in the Darke County Sheep and Lamp 4-H club. She has four sheep, Duke, Molly, Roxie, and Eileen.
Lucy showed her sheep at the Ohio State Fair this year as well. There, she won third place for Showmanship.
She says Halter Breaking is the most challenging part of working with her sheep.
“We put their halter on and tie them to the gate,” Lucy said.
Tying the sheep to the gate gets them used to the halter first, and then she can work with walking with them.
Lucy really enjoys coming to the fair.
“I like being with all my friends,” Lucy said.
