GREENVILLE – The Light Foundation completed its 14th Vohokase Cultural Leadership Camp with the graduation of the class of 2025, Milron Monteiro, Rajon Burkes, Gaethan Sinsaire, and Jarred Mighty.
“This group of four young men from Brockton, MA, showed incredible growth over their four years at Camp Vohokase,” said Matt Light. “They came in as kids trying to find their way, and they’re leaving as leaders ready to make an impact in their communities.”
“What’s been most inspiring is how these men supported one another – not just at camp, but throughout their journey,” Light added. “They’ve built bonds that will last a lifetime, and we look forward to keeping up with them on their journey into the real world.”
In 2001, Greenville graduate Matt Light, a former NFL player and three-time Super Bowl Champion, and his wife, Susie, established The Light Foundation to help young people develop the skills, values, and mindset they need to create a meaningful and productive future.
Upon founding the Light Foundation, Matt dreamed about starting a camp where young men could learn lifelong skills that would help them be R.E.A.L (Responsible, Ethical, Accountable, Leaders). The Light Foundation’s premier program, Camp Vohokase has done just that.
“Each year at our Camp Vohokase graduation, it reminds me why we do this work,” Light noted. “They’ve overcome challenges, stepped out of their comfort zones, and grown into role models for the next group of campers – Plant City, FL (juniors), Dayton, OH (sophomores), Lawrence, MA (freshmen).”
The tradition of the graduating seniors signing a post on the grounds of Chenoweth Trails continued, with the four 2025 seniors putting their signatures on the prestigious post. The bell ringing in the camp’s bell tower is an added graduation tradition in its second year.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the Brockton boys,” Light said. “They’ve set the bar high for future classes, and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish.”
Jerred Mighty was awarded the $1,000 Tony Award scholarship, named in memory of Hershel “Tony” Wray.
“Jerred Mighty has truly embodied what Camp Vohokase is all about … being REAL (responsible, ethical, accountable, leader).” Light stated. “Winning the Tony Award and earning the $1,000 scholarship from the Lykins Family Foundation is a reflection of dedication and the positive impact he’s made on everyone around him. We’re incredibly proud of him and grateful to the Lykins family for supporting our graduates as they take their next steps.”
