GREENVILLE—It is always a fun time to visit the Memory Lane events, which are held at the VFW in Greenville almost every Monday afternoon, especially when it comes time for dressing up at Halloween time.

Not a whole lot of people dressed up for the event this past Monday because some just opted not to be in the judging.

However, the ones who did were recognized and received special prizes from deejay Tom Everhart, who received help with judging by Barb Bey.
Winners were J.R. Day, first place, as a Native American; Debbie Arnett, second; couple Gary Arnett and Pat Elliot, third place, as Mickey and Minnie Mouse; Cindy Wolfe, fourth, as a cat; and Bert DeMange, fifth, as Olivia Newton-John.

Attendees, most of whom are in their 60s and older, do a lot of dancing which makes for great exercise. And, they do it to Everhart’s rock and roll music.

And that man knows his rock and roll history and has even published some books on it.
I do not care to dress up for Halloween myself, but it is great to see others do it and being creative about it when they do.

Hopefully, everybody will adjust to the time change once again and be safe in their travels.
Don’t forget our military people, past and present, as we observe Veterans Day this Friday. Scheduled are parades, services and soup meals, some at lunch time and some at supper time.

Have a happy day, all!

Think about it: “True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”– Author Unknown
