Life’s Reflections: Colorful leaves, Halloween making this autumn special

ANSONIA—I may have said this before, but I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the leaves as colorful as I have this year, especially the local ones. Wonder why?
I always like driving the roadways in the fall and seeing the leaves that have changed colors, so I knew they did that. But, for some reason, they seem more brilliant this year…especially in our area of town.

It has seemed to make the Halloween season more eventful.

Yes, the parades, masquerade parties and the trick-or-treat events are over, and we all know what that means. Wintry weather is in the offing, and hopefully it will be as pleasant as autumn is thus far.

I covered, in part, the Ansonia Fire Department’s Chili Supper last Thursday night, arriving late as I had another mission before that, yet I got there in time to see the masqueraders getting judged.

Cory Meadows did such a good job as emcee again, and has a way of relating to the children, so much that I think it keeps them from being afraid in front of people. He also announces the raffle winners at the end of this event, and he’s very entertaining there as well.

I would like to thank, at this time, the fire department and all who were involved in the evening’s happenings. Had a great time again.

I saw some really spooky decorations on Bradford properties this year when I drove through it the day I interviewed the parade marshal before Bradford Pumpkin Show even began.

Here in Ansonia, I especially like to see how people decorate for Christmas as well.

At least one household in Ansonia decorated their property once again for Halloween and that same duo goes all-out with Christmas decorations as well. I can’t wait to see what they come up with this year. For me, that makes the yule season enjoyable too.

Yes, we have three, and if you want to call New year’s Eve, a holiday observance, there are three other special dates left to celebrate before the year ends… Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

American families sure know how to celebrate all holidays and we’re fortunate to live here where people are proud.

Hope you have a Happy Halloween!
