Larry Gene Wood, age 78 years, 10 months, and 4 days of New Madison, passed away at Everheart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 4:27 AM. Born in Wayne County, Indiana on June 27, 1945 to the late Reba (Thurston) and Paul Wood.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his Brother, David Wood and his Stepson, Doug Eadler.

Larry is survived by his Wife of 47 years, Linda (Delk) Wood, who he married on September 3, 1976. They spent many years together and had a beautiful family. He leaves behind his children, Son, Larry Jr. “Bear” Wood, Stepson, Jon Eadler, and Stepdaughter, Alysa (Jeff) Collins. As well as his grandchildren, Jonathan Eadler, Caitlyn Eadler, Chase Collins, and Kiara Wood. And his Great Grandchildren, Kash Wood and Kingslee Woods. Also his Nephew, John Wood, and Niece, Denise Pustizzi.

Larry spent almost all of his life around machines, he spent years working at the Dana Corporation as a Mechanist before, in 1976 starting his own business, P &W Machine Shop. He was an avid fan of racing and owned various cars throughout the years. He would spend many hours at the races with his family, or talking with his son about cars. He found joy in living life in the fast lane, but he was always ready to slow down and extend a helping hand. Larry was known to help local farmers with their machines and was also always a big supporter of the New Madison Fire Department. He was a part of New Madison’s zoning board and loved to spend time with his family. He had a special love for his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He was known for being such a great friend to those around him. Larry will be so very missed by his family and anyone who had the privilege to know him.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the New Madison Fire Department or Everheart Hospice in memory of Larry Wood. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. The Burial service will take place at a later date at Greenmound Cemetery, in New Madison, Ohio.
