GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave stormed back from a double-digit deficit heading to the final period of MVL play, outscoring the visiting Fairborn Lady Skyhawks 19-5 in the fourth quarter to earn the Senior Night win 47-44.
“What a game,” said veteran Greenville coach Rachael Kerns. “This was a total team effort come from behind win!”

“Down by double digits in the second half and found a way to come back for the win on senior day,” Kerns continued. “The second half, we really picked up the pressure on defense, and it helped generate good looks on offense. The fourth quarter, we outscored Fairborn 19-5. We had five different girls score in the fourth quarter.”
The Lady Skyhawks won the first three quarters, taking the opening period 10-8 with Jayda Lyons, Megan Loudy, Megan Lind, and Brooke Schmidt each hitting a Lady Wave basket.

Fairborn added 20 second-quarter points to the book while Greenville scored 12 points, led by for points each from Lind and M. Loudy, sending the teams to the halftime break with the Lady Skyhawks owning a double-digit 30-20 advantage.
Period No. 3 went to the Lady Skyhawks by a single point, 9-8, with Greenville senior Megan Lind knocking down seven points. Fairborn held a comfortable 39-28 lead with one period to play.

“Avery Baumann did a very nice job handling the ball against their press early on,” Kerns stated. “Megan Lind come to life offensively in the second half.”
The Greenville girls stepped up play on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court behind eight Megan Lind points, five by Megan Loudy, including a game-tying 3-pointer, a Baumann triple, and a Schmitd free throw good for a 19-point Lady Wave fourth while a smothering defense limited the Lady Skyhawks to five points giving the Lady Wave a come-from-behind Senior Night game to remember.

“Jayda Lyons got her hands on so many passes defensively in the second half,” said Coach Kerns. “Fairborn had a hard time running the offense they wanted to.”
“Avery Baumann hit a 3 with a couple of minutes to go to tie the game,” Coach Kerns added. “Megan Loudy hit the game-winning shot with less than a second left on the clock. This was a total team effort come-from-behind win.”

Lady Wave seniors taking the court included No. 2 Avery Baumann, No. 12 Maddie Hutchens, No. 22 Megan Lind, and No. 30 Brooke Schmidt.
“These four seniors are why people want to get into coaching,” said Coach Kerns. “They make doing this job fun and oftentimes rewarding! We will miss their leadership, the way they lead by example, and most of all, who they are as people. We will definitely have some big holes to fill next season. It’s been an honor to coach them the past four seasons!”

Megan Lind led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 21 points.
