
WEST CARROLLTON – The Greenville Lady Wave stayed perfect on the new season with a run-rule 15-1 conference win over the West Carrollton Lady Pirates.
“Great day for Lady Wave Softball,” said Greenville coach Jerrod Newland. “Played all 25 healthy kids on the roster.”
Greenville plated two runs in the top of the first and never looked back, scoring five second-inning runs and three in the third to lead 10-0 after three complete with Lady Wave freshman Ella Oswalt pitching perfect ball through the opening three innings.
The Lady Wave added four runs in the top of the fourth and tacked on a single run in the top of the fifth to lead 15-0 before the Lady Pirates took advantage of a walk, their only hit of the night, a single to left and scored their lone run of the game on a wild pitch with Lizzy Shaffer getting a strikeout to close out the game.
Ella Oswalt pitched a perfect three innings to earn the win, allowing no walks and striking out seven. Lizzy Shaffer pitched two innings in relief, giving up no earned runs, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out four.
“Ella was perfect for three innings,” said Coach Newland. “Lizzie closed the door.”
Lizzie Shaffer paced the Lady Wave at the plate going 3-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Morgan Thompson went 2-2 including a double and a walk, 2 RBI; Kara Blumenstock was 2-4, including a triple, 1 RBI, 1 run; Ella Oswalt 2-3 including a double, a walk, 2 RBI, 1 run; Carlee Yundt 1-1, 1 run; Riley Thomas 1-3, a double, 1 RBI; Lily Brubaker 1-3, a double, 1 RBI, 1 run; Kendall Cromwell 1-2, a triple, a walk, 1 RBI; Reese Stewart a run; Caleigh Stebbins 3 runs; Kylar Arnett, 2 walks, 1 HBP, 1 RBI, 2 runs; Leah Force 1 HBP, 2 runs; Bri Klosterman 1 HBP, 1 run.
