Lady Wave return home for 3 games following run rule win over Stebbins

Lady Wave Softball set for three consecutive home games this week at Stebbins Field starting Tuesday night with Stebbins Lady Indians

DAYTON – The Greenville Lady Wave defeated the Stebbins Lady Indians 14-1 in six-innings of play to earn a run rule MVL Monday night road win.

“Great win for Lady Wave Softball,” said Greenville coach, Jerrod Newland. “Moving on to a big week at Lady Wave Stadium with games Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Excited for great weather and some stadium action.”

The Lady Indians took advantage of an unearned run in the bottom of the first-inning where the score would stand at 1-0 through two-innings of play.

Greenville starting pitcher Zoey burns picked up her first of four hits leading off the top of the third giving the Lady Wave to a 2-1 advantage that would hold up for the win.

The Lady Wave tacked on 3-runs in the top of the fourth and a single run in the fifth to lead 6-0 after five complete.

Greenville sent 13 batters to the plate in the top of the sixth to score 8-runs and earn a run rule conference win over the Lady Indians.

LWSB sophomore, Zoey Burns earned the win allowing no earned runs, 1-hit, 2-walks while striking out 13-hitters. Burns led a 13-hit Lady Wave attack going 4-5 including a double and 4-RBIs.

“Zoey threw well and knocked some runs in,” Coach Newland stated. “Kendall Cromwell caught a very nice game.”

Skylar Fletcher went 2-4 with a triple, 1-walk, 1-RBI and 2-runs; Ashlyn Zimmer 2-3 with a double, 1-walk, 1-run; Kendall Cromwell 2-3, 1-walk, 2-RBI, 2-runs; Kylie Hamm 1-3, 1-walk, 1-run; Ella McLear 1-2 including a double, 1-RBI and 1-run; Addie Burke 1-4, 1-run; Alaina Baughn 1-3 including a double, 1-run; Maddie Hutchins 1-walk, 2-runs; Kylar Arnett 1-RBI, 1-run, Caydance Davidson 1-run.

Kylie Hamm pitched 1.0 innings of no-hit shutout ball in relief with 2-strikeouts.

“Fun in the sun this week,” said Coach Newland. “Appreciate the effort of the kids and so pumped for some good softball. Excited as we roll into mid-April.”

The Lady Wave are at home for three games this week, starting tonight, Tuesday, April 11th when Stebbins comes to town with a 5 p.m. start time; Wednesday, April 12th the Covington Lady BUCCS with an impressive 6-2 mark take the field with a 5 p.m. start time and a Friday, April 14th MVL matchup with the Tippecanoe Lady Red Devils starting at 5 p.m.

The Lady Red Devils stand at 7-0 in MVL play and 9-1 overall. The Lady Wave are 4-0 in MVL action and 6-1 overall on the season.
