GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave made the most of three hits and an error free game to defeat the Vandalia-Butler Lady Aviators 5-2 in Wednesday night MVL action at Lady Wave Stadium in a game that took one hour and 14 minutes to complete.
“That was a good one,” said Greenville coach, Jerrod Newland. “Great day for Lady Wave Softball, big win and we made every play out there, both ways. There wasn’t too many free things out there.”

The Lady Wave got on the board in the bottom of the first with Kendall Cromwell scoring on a wild pitch and an Ashlyn Zimmer sacrifice fly RBI to lead 2-0 after one compete.
Greenville added a run in the bottom of the third with Cromwell driving in Skylar Fletcher to go up 3-0 where the score would remain through four innings of play.

The Lady Wave tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth with Cromwell again sending Fletcher home and Zoey Burns ripping a RBI single to lead 5-0.
We manufactured three of our five runs and Fletch (Skylar Fletcher) played fast today out there flying around,” said Newland. “She earned seven bases extra, Zim (Zimmerman) made a couple, McDermitt made a great catch off the lefty in left, Fletch made one in right, Arnett stole one up the middle.”

“Zoey (Burns) threw a fabulous game tonight,” Newland noted. “Defense made some great plays. We made a few great plays and just a good day for Lady Wave Softball.”
