WEST ALEXANDRIA – The Tri-Village Lady Patriots overcame adversity to defeat the Twin Valley South Lady Panthers 51-43 and secure the team’s fourth consecutive WOAC championship, clinching a share of the 2024-2025 conference title with Arcanum. Mississinawa Valley can share in a three-way championship with a win over Preble Shawnee at home Friday night, February 7.
Tri-Village floor leader Tai Mize went out early in the game with an ankle injury with the Lady Patriots earning a low-scoring 7-5 lead after one-quarter of play.
Period No. 2 went to Tri-Village by a slim 15-14 score with sophomore Kaley Brandon draining three 3-pointers to pace the Lady Patriots sending the teams to the break with TV holding a 22-19 advantage.
Mize returned to the floor in the third still hobbled by the earlier injury to help get Tri-Village get back in sync with the Lady Patriots knocking down five treys; two by Brandon, her fourth and fifth of the night, and one each from Kenna Wilcox, Alexa Light, and Adeline Hines with Tri-Village taking the quarter 17-16 to lead 39-35 with one period to play.
The Lady Patriots put the game away with a 12-8 fourth in earning an eight-point conference road win.
Kaley Brandon led Tri-Village and all scorers with a game-high 15 points, all coming from beyond the arc.
Tri-Village was 11-37 from three-point range in earning the win.
