PREBLE COUNTY – On August 28, at approximately 8:15 P.M., deputies encountered a male subject sitting in a vehicle in the Deer Run Campground just outside of Camden, who had traffic warrants in Butler County. During that contact, the deputies observed criminal indicators from the subject. PCSO K-9 Arko responded to the scene and conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Arko alerted to the vehicle.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies located approximately 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside plastic baggies, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and transported to the Preble County Jail.
On September 2, the case was presented to the Preble County Grand Jury. An indictment was returned and a warrant issued. Michael S. Ruhl (47), who resides in the campground, was formally indicted on the following charges:
- Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a 2nd Degree Felony
- Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a 4th Degree Felony
- Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a 4th Degree Misdemeanor.
Ruhl later admitted to deputies that he frequently travels to the Dayton area to purchase methamphetamine and returns to Preble County to sell the drug. Deputies also seized cash from Ruhl at the time of his arrest.
Ruhl remains in the Preble County Jail, where a bond has been set.
