JoAnne Catherine Campbell Bowie 81, passed into the arms of God Tuesday, Jan 21, 2025 at 5:59 am while under the care of Day-City Hospice in Greenville, OH.

As a single mother, she graduated from Phoenix College in Gulfport, MS as a Nursing Assistant. Was a volunteer starting in her teens as part of the first class of Candy Stripers to go through Wayne Hospital. Active in Girl Scouts for 23+ years, making sure to mortify and embarrass her daughter every chance she got as a Troop Leader. Longstanding member of the United Methodist Church as a woman in leadership. Tutored and mentored numerous kids with Project Read as well as other literacy programs including teaching incarcerated individuals literacy and classes designed to help successfully reacclimate back into society. Furthermore, among her proudest achievements was serving as a Consumer Advocate and Counselor for the mentally ill throughout the MS Gulf Coast for many years until the unfortunate events of Hurricane Katrina brought her back to her hometown of Greenville.

JoAnne is preceded in death by Harry and Beatrice Campbell and Tom Dietrich, all of Greenville, OH.

She is survived by daughter January Wilson (and husband Scott) of Rosarito, Mexico and son Christopher Bowie of Towanda, IL. Sister to Mary Jane Dietrich (and husband Don) of Greenville, OH and Dr. Hank Campbell (and wife Mary) of Normal, IL; numerous nieces and nephews and “adopted” kids from the neighborhood as her kids were growing up.

Funeral and celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Greenville Church of the Brethren at 11:30 am; visitation to start at 11 am.
