Joan E. Grilliot, age 93, of Versailles, passed away at 10:34 am Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Versailles Rehab & Healthcare Center.
Joan was born August 20, 1929, in Shelby County to the late Louis & Estella (Dapore)
Phlipot. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Grilliot, on February 15, 2020, whom she married June 24, 1950; great-grandson, Elijah Grilliot; brothers & sisters-in-law, Forest & Evelyn Phlipot, Lloyd & Anna Marie Phlipot, Jerome Phlipot and Dorvan & Martha Phlipot; sisters & brothers-in-law, Mary & Henry Monnin and Patricia (John Wagner) & Jim Borchers; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Herbert & Jean Grilliot, Robert & Edna Grilliot, Mary & Lawrence Huelskamp and Dorothy & Clarence Siefring.
Joan is survived by her children, James & Diana Grilliot of Versailles, Marie & Earl
Heitkamp of Versailles, Edward & Joan Grilliot of Versailles, Ann & Thomas Grilliot of Ft. Loramie and Steven & Theresa Grilliot of Versailles; 20 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Naomi Phlipot of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and
attended St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star for many years. Joan was also a member of the North Star American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 17, 2023, at St. Louis
Catholic Church 15 E. Star Rd. in North Star with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, North Star. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 8:30 to 10:15 am at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice in Greenville. Arrangements are entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
