Jaelyn Hecht is in her second year of FFA and her first year showing.
She is showing her Hereford Pig named Banks. She will be showing in the Open-Class, Purebred Hereford, Born and Raised in Darke County, and Showmanship.
Jaelyn has been enjoying her time in FFA.
“I like how you get to meet new people, and you get to go out and like do a bunch of activities with classmates,” Jaelyn said.
She is very excited to show her pig Banks this year.
“I like it because you get to see the animal grow,” Jaelyn said. “I’m passionate about it, so like, I love watching him like walk and learn new things, and it’s just really fun.”
Jaelyn started walking with her pig when he was just 60 lbs; now he is 260 lbs.
Although this is her first year showing, she has some advice for those who want to learn to show.
“You really gotta work hard, and you gotta be very passionate about it if you want your pig to look good in the ring and look good while he’s walking, and learn and teach him how to do the correct things,” Jaelyn said.
Along with showing Banks, Jaelyn is excited about fair food.
“I like the fries, the funnel cakes, and the pink lemonade.”
We wish Jaelyn the best of luck in her shows!
