GREENVILLE – Greenville senior Andrew Winner shattered many Green Wave varsity wrestling records and closed out his high school wrestling career with a pin at state to earn a fifth-place OHSAA DII finish.
“Andrew got a good pin for the Green Wave and a fifth-place finish,” said Greenville wrestling coach David Guillozet. “He did an awesome job, I’m super excited for him, I’m super proud of him, he is well deserved.”

Winner had a goal of winning 100 Green Wave varsity matches coming into high school and far exceeded the goal in completing his wrestling career with 131 total wins.
Wrestling in the heavyweight 285 division, Winner destroyed the previous total pins record of 87 with a new career record of 110 pins, including a five-second pin his senior season. Winner also set a new Greenville season pin mark, breaking the old record of 33 pins with a new record of 39 pins in a single season.

Winner’s Green Wave high school career included sectional and district seconds and a state fifth-place finish.
“Andrew worked his tail off the last three weekends to get to that point, and he delivered,” Guillozet stated. “He wrestled well, had a goal in mind, and made his goals.”
Winner closes out his Greenville Senior High School senior season with a 46-5-39 record and his GHS wrestling career with an impressive 131-47-110 mark and All-Ohio honors.

“He is a fun kid, good kid to be around,” Coach Guillozet said. “Andrew worked hard for us and was fun to watch. Every match was exciting.”
“His last career match was a pin,” added Gullozet. “A nice little backdrop to an outstanding career.”
The 2024-2025 Greenville varsity wrestling team also notched a new mark with 247 season team pins and completed the year second with 389 season wins.
