GREENVILLE Greenville High School sophomore Ella Oswalt has been named a 2025-26 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School Third Team All-American, becoming one of just 39 players nationwide selected to one of the organization’s three All-America teams.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the honor on July 13, recognizing 39 student-athletes from 26 schools across the United States. Oswalt was one of only six sophomores selected and one of just seven underclassmen to earn All-America recognition.

The honor caps a remarkable sophomore season in which Oswalt established herself as one of the nation’s premier two-way softball players while leading the Greenville Lady Wave to the OHSAA Division III state final four.

“Ella Oswalt had a monster season both ways and really dominated some high-level teams on the mound,” Greenville Hall of Fame head coach Jerrod Newland said. “Such a huge honor. Actually wild to even think about. Thirty-nine kids in the country, and Ella to be included is amazing. So proud of her joining Jordyn Fisherback and Ally Russell Bowers as All-Americans.”

Oswalt earned All-America consideration after being selected to the NFCA Region VIII First Team earlier this summer.

“The players, high school programs, and colleges some of these kids are attending are unbelievable,” Newland said. “The bios and stats just aren’t normal. When the pitcher list was released, I held my breath for this week’s announcement.”

The sophomore dominated in the circle throughout the 2026 season, leading the Miami Valley League with a 24-2 record, a microscopic 0.447 earned run average, and 247 strikeouts. At the plate, she batted .485 with 10 home runs and 52 RBIs, helping Greenville reach the Division III state final four.

Oswalt also earned First Team All-Ohio honors for the second consecutive season.

“So cool and happy to see her hard work start to pay off for her and her family,” Newland said. “Steve and Haleigh have made many sacrifices to make opportunities available for Ella to run with … and boy has she.”

Newland believes Oswalt’s best softball is still ahead of her.

“Been a fun two years already for her and can’t wait for the next two here at the Ville,” he said. “So excited for her to be named an NFCA Third-Team All-American.”

The NFCA High School All-America teams are selected by NFCA member high school coaches and recognize the nation’s top high school softball players. This year’s honorees represented schools from Louisiana, Connecticut, Ohio, Texas, Iowa, Kentucky, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

With two varsity seasons still remaining, Oswalt adds NFCA All-American status to an already impressive list of accomplishments and continues Greenville’s tradition of producing nationally recognized softball talent.
