GREENVILLE – Lady Wave volleyball’s Brooke Schmidt has been named Miami Valley League (MVL) Player of the Year and District 9 Player of the Year. Kindyl Peltz and Shyanne Gibboney each earned Second Team MVL All-Conference honors and District 9 Division III Second Team honors.

GHS senior Brooke Schmidt was the 2024 team leader in kills and blocks. Schmidt finished first in the MVL with 357 kills, 89 kills ahead of the second-place player. Brooke finishes her volleyball career at Greenville High School with over 1,000 Kills. She owns the School career, season, and single-match records for kills.

For the second consecutive year, Schmidt earned First Team MVL All-Conference and was named the Player of the Year. In District 9 Division III, she again earned First Team Honors, the same as last year, and this year, she was named Player of the Year. Brooke will also be playing in the District 9 Senior All-Star game and has been invited to play in the Division 3 All-Ohio All-Star game. Brooke will take her game to the collegiate level while studying Biology at Tiffin University.

“Brooke’s outstanding work ethic, coachability, skill, and dedication to this sport have established her as a vital asset,” said Greenville head volleyball coach Michelle Hardesty. “Her contributions to the program have been substantial. Her departure will be deeply felt.”

Kindyl Peltz, a GHS Junior, is a top setter in the MVL for the third year in a row. Peltz leads in assists per set and is second in total assists for the season. Kindyl also leads the team and is third in the Conference in ace serves. She earned Second-Team MVL All-Conference honors as well as District 9 Division III Second-Team honors.

“Coaching Kindyl is a privilege, thanks to her humility, diligence, and exceptional teamwork,” said Coach Hardesty. “Her relentless work ethic and exceptional team-oriented approach will undoubtedly yield another successful season in 2025.”

Senior Shyanne Gibboney led the Lady Wave in digs & passing. She is second in the MVL in serve-receive passing and fifth in digs. She is also a talented server, second on the team in aces and 12th in the MVL. Shyanne earned Second Team MVL All-Conference and District 9 Division III Second Team honors. She will be playing in the District 9 Senior All-Star game. In addition, in three seasons as a defensive specialist, she has over 1000 digs, owns the school career dig and passing records, the single-season digs record, and the single-match dig record. Shyanne looks to further her volleyball career at a college to be determined while studying Civil Engineering.

“Shyanne’s exceptional ability to deliver pinpoint passes will be deeply missed next season,” Coach Hardesty said. “Fortunately, her leadership and exemplary conduct have left a lasting impact on the program, as she frequently offered guidance and wisdom to her teammates. Her absence will be greatly missed.”

“The school records and post-season honors don’t happen without a complete team effort,” Hardesty added. “This is quite a phenomenal group of athletes.”

In addition to the post-season honors, the Greenville Lady Wave has several top-ranked players in the league, which has well over 200 players.

Olivia Flatter and Hailey Gillispie, along with Brooke Schmidt, are in the top 25 in the MVL in Kills, with Kyndall Burke not too far behind. Along with Top MVL Setter Kindyl Peltz, Megan Loudy is also in the top 15 in Assists. In Digs, Shyanne, Kindyl, Sara Loudy & Megan Loudy all were in the top 30.

“It’s understandable but unfortunate that they can’t all be recognized with awards,” Coach Hardesty concluded.
