DAYTON – The Greenville boys varsity tennis team defeated the home-standing Stebbins Indians 3-2 in MVL play.

“A league win is a league win,” said Greenville coach Sam Bowers. “Tough weather with 20-30 mph wind gusts, not ideal tennis weather, but I’m proud of how our team handled the adversity and mental side of the game today to scratch together a win.”

Mason Pierri earned a Wave win at first doubles, and the doubles teams of Avery Yount / Drew Beisner and Shane Gilman / Silas Lacey won for Greenville.

“We were additionally down from our regular team with Kaitlin Combs out sick, so Freshman Shane Gilman had to step up to help us out on varsity,” Coach Bowers noted.

With the Tuesday night league win, Greenville improves to 7-3 on the season.

“Great team win,” said Bowers. “On to the next!”
