UNION CITY – Greenville traveled to Mississinawa Valley for a preseason basketball scrimmage between the Blackhawks and Green Wave varsity and JV squads.

“We are only two weeks in,” said Greenville coach Matt Hamilton. “I keep telling them that means we only have two weeks before we start, so we have pieces of the puzzle; we just have to get them to fit better together and find the right things to do.”

The 2024-2025 edition of the Green Wave varsity boys team includes six seniors: Drew Hamilton, Owen Mcgreevey, Layne Hocker, Liam Jasenski, Carson Good, and Josh Baker. Three juniors complete the roster: Lukas Thorp, JiJi Jim, and David Conway.

“It’s a group of seniors figuring things out,” Hamilton stated. “We talked about it. They’re feeling the pressure of their senior season and their expectation to turn things around for the program. Just a lot of things. It’s early, and we have to execute better and shoot the ball better.”

With experience from a large senior class, the program looks to improve on back-to-back 2-21 and 3-20 seasons.

“We had a good summer. There are better numbers for the whole program for the summer, so things are moving in the right direction,” Coach Hamilton said. “It’s a year we want to see the needle move. We keep building every day, and we’re talking about improving every day.”
