GREENVILLE -The Greenville Middle School tennis team has turned in a remarkable performance this spring, compiling a perfect 10–0 record with only several matches left in the season.
The team’s success was powered by a complete group effort, with every player contributing to the undefeated season. Greenville demonstrated depth and consistency across both singles and doubles play, making it difficult for opponents to find an edge.
Two of the season’s most pivotal victories came against Troy and Vandalia Butler. The team delivered a strong 9–3 victory over Troy, followed by a 4-3 win against Vandalia Butler. In that tightly contested match, Greenville held its composure to secure the win, further solidifying its dominance and maintaining its perfect record.
Greenville coach Suzie Brown credited the team’s preparation and dedication as key factors in its success. “We had some great returning players who practiced with the high school team over the winter, as well as competing in league play at Schroeder Tennis Center to get more experience,” Brown said. “Our beginners show a lot of promise and have worked hard to gain the needed skills to take over next season.”
Assistant coaches Natalie Milligan and Eileen Schulze also played an important role in the team’s development, helping guide both experienced players and newcomers throughout the season.
The combination of experienced returners and hardworking beginners created a balanced lineup that improved steadily from match to match. That growth, along with strong teamwork and a positive attitude, helped Greenville stay focused and consistent all season long.
The team has one more week of match play and two weekend tournaments, where they hope to continue their success. The Greenville Middle School tennis team has set a high standard and built a strong foundation for future success in their high school careers.
