MIAMI COUNTY – On Tuesday at 10:25 A.M., Miami County Sheriff’s deputies and Piqua medics were dispatched to the intersection of Washington Road and Farrington Road in Washington Township on an injury crash involving two vehicles.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a sedan was traveling westbound on Farrington Road and stopped at the stop sign at Washington Road. The sedan then proceeded into the intersection westbound, failing to yield to a pickup truck traveling northbound on Washington Road. The truck then collided with the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, Thomas V. Copp (75) of Greenville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female passenger was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.
The male driver of the pickup truck was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center by Piqua medics with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts. Neither speed nor impairment appears to be a factor.
The Miami County Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
