
GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave run ruled the undefeated Fairborn Lady Skyhawks 10-0 in five innings of MVL play to stay perfect on the season.
The game had the two 2022 MVL division champions; Miami Division 17-1 Lady Wave and the Valley Division 14-4 Lady Skyhawks going head to head at Stebbins Field.

“Great day for Lady Wave Softball,” said Greenville coach, Jerrod Newland. “Today you had the two defending champs in the league, Greenville and Fairborn.”
Greenville jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning of play with Lady Wave sophomore Zoey Burns striking out the side, one swinging and two looking.
The Lady Wave pushed a run across in the second to lead 6-0 with two innings in the book where the score would stand through four innings.

Inning No. 5 had Greenville putting the game away with a Burns single, an error and a 2-run double off the bat of Alaina Baughn to lead 8-0. Addie Burke knocked a run scoring single to center for a 9-0 score setting up a walk off single to center off the bat of Kylie Hamm, her second walk off hit in the first three games of the young season.

“Good ballgame, good home field,” Newland stated. “We played really fast off the get go and played some defense, Zoey pitched a great ball game and we really hit the ball well tonight.”
“We hit the ball solid and square and put it in play and great things happened,” added Newland. “Bottom line – Lady Wave win a big one.”

Burns picked up the win going the distance allowing no runs, 1-walk while striking out 8-batters.
Burns went 3-3 with 2-RBI and a run scored; Hamm was 2-3 with 3-RBIs; Skylar Fletcher was 2-3 with a run; Baughn was 1-3 with a double and 2 RBIs; Kylar Arnett went 1-3 with 2-RBIs and 2-runs, Addie Burke went 1-3 with a RBI and a run; Ashlyn Zimmer was 1-3 with a run; Haleigh McDermitt 1-2 with a run; Lily Brubaker 2-runs and Ella Stebbins a run scored.
Greenville pounded out 12-hits in five innings at the plate.
