More than 190 teams will converge on Columbus Sunday to compete in the prestigious junior high cross-country tournament.

“We are super excited for our middle school runners to go to Columbus following up on winning the MVL,” said Greenville head varsity coach Stephanie Lind. “We hope they end their season with some fun and good races at the state. This is a good opportunity for them to preview the course that hopefully they can qualify to get to when they’re in high school.”

“The police have agreed to escort us out of town, so just a little way of celebrating for the kids,” Eckstein stated. “Just can’t say enough about their hard work this year and just something special for them to remember.”

At the state event, the boys’ and girls’ teams will run in the eight-race format, including four boys’ races and four girls’ races.

“They will combine them all, and then we will know where we place in the state,” Coach Eckstein concluded. “We’re hoping for a top ten, top twenty – out of 190 teams that would be phenomenal.”
