“It is a good time to see our team,” said Greenville veteran head coach, Bart Schmitz. “We’re young, a lot of new faces. The injury bug nipped us a little bit this week. Some guys that didn’t think they would be running with the first group are now running with the first group so I am excited to see who steps up and I’m excited to see who rises to the occasion. I’m excited to see us go against somebody other than ourselves and see what we have.”

Coach Schmitz, his coaching staff will be leading the noticeably young Green Wave squad in 2023 season play competing in the Miami Valley League with teams including the Butler Aviators, Fairborn Skyhawks, Piqua Indians, Sidney Yellow Jackets, Stebbins Indians, Tippecanoe Red Devils, Troy Trojans, West Carrollton Pirates and the Xenia Buccaneers.

“They are great kids, they work hard, they are doing the things asked of them,” said Schmitz. “It’s not easy when Coach Schmitz makes you practice 4 – 6 on the turf in the middle of the heat of the day but they’re doing everything we ask them to do, they’re doing it well. We’re making young mistakes right now and that is to be expected but the effort is there, the attention is there and they are doing the things asked so eventually we will fix those mistakes.”
