XENIA — The Greenville Green Wave dropped a 63-43 Miami Valley League road decision Friday night to the Xenia Buccaneers in varsity boys basketball action.
Xenia took control early, winning the opening quarter 18-11 and never looking back, as the Buccaneers claimed each of the four quarters on the night.
Johnny Barr and Isaac Kerg paced Greenville in the first period with four points apiece, while Ethan Flatter added a 3-pointer.
The Buccaneers extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Greenville 12-9 to take a 30-20 advantage into the halftime break. Five different Green Wave players found the scoring column in the period, led by David Conway’s three points.
Greenville showed some offensive spark in the third quarter behind JiJi Jim, who knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to account for six points, but Xenia continued to pull away by taking the quarter 17-11 and carrying a 47-32 lead into the final frame.
Xenia closed out the conference matchup by winning the fourth quarter 17-11, with Barr leading the Wave with four points in the period.
With the win, Xenia improves to 2-0 on the season, while Greenville drops to 1-3.
