GREENVILLE – The Green Wave varsity boys tennis program is going for its 12th consecutive winning season under third-year coach Sam Bowers.

“We have a good senior class back led by Mason Pierri, Avery Yount, and Kaitlin Combs,” said Coach Bowers. “We have high expectations for the season. I expect to have more wins than we did last season. Again, we finished the top three in the MVL, so those are our goals.”

Seniors Pierri, Yount, and Combs will serve as captains for the 2025 squad.

“We have good senior leadership with Mason Pierri coming back to play first singles for a third straight year,” said Bowers. “He is going on to play at the collegiate level, which we are excited about for him.”

The Green Wave has a full 2025 schedule with excellent competition and will compete in two or three tournaments.

“We are looking forward to competing this spring,” said Bowers. “We are going to have strong doubles teams and hope to piece together a lot of wins this year. That’s the plan.”

“The goal this year is to outdo the wins from last year and finish top three in the MVL again,” Coach Bowers stated. “Tipp and Troy usually sit atop the MVL. They are really strong again this year, so we will aim for that third spot. We hope to challenge them a little bit.”

Coach Bowers said the boys’ tennis program always wants more players and asks students to consider playing for the Green Wave.

“Come out and watch them,” Bowers concluded. “They’re fun to watch.”
