GREENVILLE – The Green Wave dropped a 72-62 senior night conference game to the Sidney Yellow Jackets to close out regular season play.
Greenville honored seven seniors before the game: No. 2 Drew Hamilton, No. 5 Owen Mcgreevey, No. 10 Layne Hocker, No. 12 Liam Jasenski, No. 24 Carson Good, No. 40 Landin Domingo, and No. 50 Josh Baker.

“Can’t say enough, wins and losses aside, tonight is exactly what I expected of them, to play hard and go all out to the very end,” Greenville coach Matt Hamilton said of his seven seniors. “They are a great group of guys that I have been around for a long time, and it’s hard to see them go.”

“This group of seniors has done everything asked of them. They will be successful in whatever they do in life. I am very proud of them.”
“You can see the influence that has on the JV squad playing that way, the freshman squad playing that way,” Hamilton added. “In many ways, it will impact us going forward.”

Greenville jumped out to an 11-5 lead at 4:21 in the opening quarter on their way to a 19-11 advantage after one period of play led by eight Hamilton and six Hocker points.
The Green Wave grabbed a double-digit 25-15 point lead midway through the second quarter before the Jackets closed out the second quarter on an 8-2 run to trail the Wave 27-23 at the break.

The visiting Yellow Jackets took their first lead of the night, 31-39, with 6:52 on the third quarter clock. They took the third 23-11 to lead 46-38 with one quarter to play.

The teams battled to a 26-24 fourth quarter, with Sidney making an impressive 15-of-17 free throws to earn the Friday night MVL victory.
The difference in the game came at the charity stripe, with the Jackets canning 20-of-31 throws while Greenville was making good on 7-of-10.

Drew Hamilton led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 26 points. Sidney senior Jayce Daniel led the Yellow Jackets with 25 points.
