Greenville Baseball earns shutout win over Stebbins

DAYTON – Greenville earned a Miami Valley League shutout win over the home-standing Stebbins Indians baseball team.

“Our guys were excited to get out on the field,” said Greenville coach Adam Eberwein. “Finally, with all the bad weather this week if felt good to go out and get a win for the Wave.”

Greenville got a complete game 2-hitter from Braeden Wills while pounding out 8 hits, two each from Owen Mcgreevey and Drew Hamilton to in earning the conference win.

“Braeden Wills pitched a great game,” Coach Eberwein stated. “It’s always nice to have a pitcher go a complete game. It’s even better when it’s a 2 hit shutout.”

The Wave took advantage of 5 Stebbins errors on the day while limiting their miscues to a single error.

“Defensively we played a solid ball game” said Eberwein. “Cole Oswalt made some nice plays at first, with our outfield cleaning things up when the ball was hit to them..”

Greenville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second for a score that would standup through 4 innings of play.

The Green Wave plated 2 runs in the fifth, 6 runs in the sixth, and 2 insurance runs in the top of the seventh to close out scoring on the night.

“I always tell our guys if we put the ball in play good things will happen,” Coach Eberwein said, “and we did just that today.”

Hamilton went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and Mcgreevey was 2-4 and 2 RBIs. C Oswalt was 1-3 with a double, a walk, 1 RBI, and 3 runs scored; Isaac Kerg went 1-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run; Wills was 1-4 with a double and an RBI. Q Garner was 1-4 with an RBI and 2 runs; C Jasenski had a walk and 2 runs.
