GREENVILLE – The Greenville Green Wave varsity boys tennis team delivered a strong all-around performance, sweeping the visiting Eaton Eagles 5-0 in non-conference action.
Greenville controlled play across the board, earning victories in all three singles matches and both doubles contests to secure the shutout win.
Winning in singles for the Wave were Eli Willis, Hudson Pierri, and Drew Beisner. Greenville’s doubles teams also proved dominant, with Gabe Rammel and Silas Lacey teaming for a win, while Shane Gilman and Kelton Evans completed the sweep with a victory at second doubles.
“After a long weekend off, it was nice to knock some rust off in deciding fashion with a sweep,” said Greenville coach Sam Bowers. “We keep getting better, and that is what I want to see early season.”
Willis highlighted the day with a hard-fought three-set win at first singles against a strong Eaton opponent.
“Eli Willis with a massive 3-set win over a really good 1st singles player for Eaton showed how much work and improvement Eli has had, going from 2nd singles last year to 1st singles this year,” Bowers added.
The Green Wave now turns its attention to a challenging stretch, hosting back-to-back home matches against Troy and Milton-Union.
Greenville looks to carry its momentum into the busy week as the team continues to build consistency early in the season.
