Green Wave Tennis Defeats Piqua Under the Lights

Greenville sweeps singles play, edges tight doubles match to earn 4-1 MVL road win

PIQUA – The Greenville varsity boys tennis team took advantage of a unique opportunity to play a night match under the lights, defeating Miami Valley League rival Piqua 4-1.

“A unique opportunity to play a night match under the lights,” said Greenville coach Sam Bowers. “Piqua has a brand-new, incredible tennis facility. We took advantage of the opportunity.”

Greenville swept all three singles courts on the way to the win.

At first singles, Eli Willis earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Hudson Pierri won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles, while Drew Beisner posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles.

The Green Wave also picked up a hard-fought win at first doubles, where Silas Lacey and Gabe Rammel battled to a 7-6, 4-6, 10-8 tiebreaker victory.

“We played good and dominant tennis under the lights,” Bowers said. “Singles players looked strong, all dominant. Proud of how our first doubles team played in clutch moments to win a tight and competitive match.”

With the win, Greenville improves to 10-6 on the spring season.
