GREENVILLE – The Greenville Green Wave went on the road Friday night and returned home with a hard-earned 61-51 MVL victory over the Fairborn Skyhawks, using a strong first half and timely free-throw shooting to secure the conference win.

Greenville set the tone early, edging Fairborn 11-9 in the opening period behind perimeter shooting. Michael McMahon scored eight first-quarter points, knocking down two 3-pointers, while Ethan Flatter added a triple as the Wave found early rhythm from beyond the arc.

The Wave elevated their play in the second quarter, outscoring the Skyhawks 18-11 to take a 29-20 lead into the halftime break. Gage Denham paced Greenville with six points in the period, McMahon drilled his third three of the half, and Isaac Kerg and Johnny Barr each chipped in three points as Greenville controlled the tempo on both ends of the floor.

Fairborn responded after the break, taking the third quarter 13-11 to trim the deficit. Barr led the Wave with five points in the period, while McMahon and Kerg each connected from long range. Despite the Skyhawks’ push, Greenville maintained a 40-33 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.

Both teams delivered their best offensive output of the night in the fourth quarter, combining for 39 points, with much of the scoring coming at the free-throw line. Greenville went 13-of-19 from the charity stripe in the period, while Fairborn was a perfect 10-for-10. McMahon added two key baskets down the stretch, and Kerg finished strong with a bucket to help the Wave pull away for the 10-point conference victory.

McMahon led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 19 points.

With the win, Greenville improves to 3-14 overall and 2-12 in MVL play. Fairborn falls to 3-14 on the season and 3-12 in conference action.

Greenville returns home tonight, Saturday, January 31, 2026, to host Wapakoneta with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff on Hall of Fame Night at Greenville.
