DAYTON – Girls on the Run of Dayton will host its Spring 2026 Celebratory 5k presented by Dayton Children’s Hospital and made possible by Up and Running on Saturday, April 25th at Wright State University.
Girls on the Run of Dayton is a nonprofit organization serving the greater Dayton region that provides programs combining research-based social-emotional learning lessons with physical activity to empower girls in 3rd to 8th grade to be mentally and physically healthy and confident. Throughout their 10-week program season, girls participate in lessons that foster confidence, build peer connections, and encourage community service while they prepare for an end-of-season celebratory 5K event.
So much more than a 5k, Girls on the Run of Dayton’s Spring 5k is a celebration for the entire community – featuring a Kiddie Fun Run at 12:30 pm, inspiration stations, sponsor spaces, an opportunity to become a “Shoe Fairy” for girls in need, and food and refreshments available for purchase from Better Blends, Bolter Coffee Co, Kona Ice, and Wheel Fresh Pizza.
Participation in the 5k event and Kiddie Fun Run on April 25th is open to the public! All proceeds from the event go directly to cover programming costs for the 65% of girls who depend on scholarships to take part in Girls on the Run of Dayton programs. Registration cost is $35 through April 18th, then increases to $40 for the 5K; registration cost for the Kiddie Fun Run is $10, and 5K day registration is also available.
