BRADFORD – Bradford Schools inducted two new members, Shawn Gambill and honorary inductee, Bob Daugherty into the Bradford Athletic Hall of Fame.

Gambill is a 1999 graduate and participated in football, basketball, and baseball all 4 years, earning 3 letters in each sport. As the quarterback in football he led the Railroaders in passing with 1,735 yards and a 6-4 record his junior year. He was selected to the second team all SW district area.

During his basketball career, Shawn averaged nine points a game. In baseball his senior year his batting average was .535 with 11 HR and 40 RBI earning himself All-League, All SW District Area, and First Team All-State.

After Shawn graduated he joined the Army and became a Sergeant while serving two tours overseas.

Daugherty graduated from Bradford High School in 1994. He participated in basketball his freshman year, football his junior and senior year and track all four years. He was also a part of the varsity “B” club all four years.

After graduating from college, Daugherty returned to his alma mater as a social studies teacher and coach and later became the Assistant Principal.

Daugherty began his coaching career as an assistant coach in football and head track coach in 2001. He held the role as head track coach until 2009. Most notably, he was instrumental in restarting the XC program and led it from 2004 – 2016 as the head coach. He took a program that was all but dead, and saw that it prospered, as it still does today. He went on to be the assistant XC and JH track coach from 2017 – 2020.

Bob had many track and XC athletes move on to districts, regionals, and state in his years at the helm of those programs. Most notably, the 2018 girls XC team defeated 114 teams in the regular season, won the Spencerville Bearcat invitational, won the CCC championship, were the District runner ups. They placed 3rd at Regionals to qualify for the state tournament, and then finished the season 11th overall in the state. Congratulations Bob on this induction and we hope to see you coaching again for Bradford in the future.
