ARCANUM—The Arcanum Lady Trojans and the Franklin Monroe Lady Jets volleyball teams recently participated in the Relay for Life in support of Buncos for Breast Cancer awareness in the teams’ final regular season match. Claire Simpson and 4 One Apparel also raised funds for the organization.

“I am super proud of the girls and the community for all the money we have raised for such a great organization. Have it go back to members in our community and show our support,” said Arcanum volleyball coach Jacie Holeman. “The girls are able to give back, and to see in the faces today realizing where the money is going, and the impact they’re making is awesome.”

Arcanum sophomore Clair Simpson raised $1,021.71 from her FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America) Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers, Luminary Walk, and Bake Sales at the Trojans home football games.

Andrea Painting, FCS (Family and Consumer Science) teacher and FCCLA advisor at Arcanum High School, leads the program.

“Claire Simpson did her FCCLA project Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser and Luminary Walk at our football games,” said Painting. “For her project, we made over one thousand dollars with the FCCLA bake sale and Luminary Walk. The Relay for Life by the High School volleyball team donated as well as 4 One Apparel for a total of over two thousand dollars; the three programs were able to donate to Bunco for Breast Cancer.”

Claire, an FCCLA officer in her fourth year with the Arcanum program, will present her service project at the regional competition in April. She hopes to qualify to make the presentation at the state competition, followed by nationals in Orlando.

“We are very proud of the kids,” Painting said. “All of the kids do different projects.”
