Coach Montaous Walton has accepted a Director of Baseball operations position under New head Baseball coach CJ Bilbrey at  Mississippi Valley State University, a NCAA Division 1 program that competes in the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference)

Walton is emerging into one of the bright young coaches and recruiters in college baseball and comes with solid experience having three really good seasons in the past at Cincinnati Christian University as well as one season at Central Christian college of Kansas , two seasons at Wright State Lake Campus and most recently at NAIA Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi where he was part of the Bearcat squad that went to the 2023 College World Series for the three consecutive years.

Throughout Walton’s college baseball coaching career he has made three conference playoff appearances and two trips to the College World Series, one with Wright state University Lake Campus in 2021 and one with Rust College in the 2023 season as well as becoming 2023 regular season champs with Rust college under head coach John Bates and signing talent in the past that became All-Americans and Academic All-Americans.

“This is a blessing and a dream come true for me to able to be at a NCAA Division 1 program that compete in an extremely competitive conference in the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference). There is no doubt we got our work cut out for us but we are going to grind hard I look forward to getting to work and hitting the ground running helping Coach CJ Bilbrey turn the program around,” said Walton.

Reportedly in the past coach CJ Bilbrey has been aware of coach Walton’s strong recruiting ability as well as his work ethic and even once tried to add Walton on his staff years ago when he was coaching in St louis Missouri – so the history between the two is great as they both look forward to building the program along with the rest of the  coaching staff.
